Champion Modular Construction Solves Site Labor Issues for Remote Temporary Office Facilities in Newfoundland, Canada

Champion designed and built 36 modules for delivery to Bull Arm, Newfoundland. The modules were shipped to the site and assembled to provide a two-story engineering office facility for those working on the design and construction of an off-shore stand-alone gravity based drilling platform. The facility totaled more than 25,000 square feet complete with offices, large conference rooms and kitchens/lunchroom areas.

PROJECT SCOPE
  • Two-Story office building
  • 36 modules - 25,000 sq. ft.
CHALLENGE
Lack of available labor and a shortened building season in the remote regions of Newfoundland, Canada made site building virtually impossible.

SOLUTION

Champion teamed with modular provider Malthus Canada Ltd to design, construct, deliver and install quality office facilities for Exxon Energy Services, thus minimizing the need for site labor. The modules were constructed in NY, placed on a barge in Albany, and transported to NL. The building was installed, energized and occupied within several weeks of delivery.
